"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new." Socrates
"What you have to decide ... is how you want your life to be. If your forever was ending tomorrow, would this be how you'd want to have spent it? Listen, the truth is, nothing is guaranteed. You know that more than anybody. So don't be afraid. Be alive." Sarah Dessen
After a great weekend in Niagara Falls, it was hard to get back to the daily grind. It's so easy to leave your responsibilities behind for a few days, but it's often hard to get back to them after a weekend of living life the way you want it. I have been working to live the life I want rather than a life that is dictated by others or doing things that I don't want to do. It's not easy and I'm not completely there yet but each small action brings me closer and closer to the life I want to lead.
"Every problem is a gift - without problems we would not grow." Anthony Robbins
"No one can make you unhappy. Yes, someone can bring up an emotion you don't like. In the end though, you are the one choosing the way you feel." Amelia Rachel Noel
"Imperfection is beauty, Madness is genious, And it's better to be absolutely ridiculous, Then absolutely boring." Marilyn Monroe
"When you yield internally, when you surrender, a new dimension of consciousness opens up." Eckhart Tolle
"The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it." Eckhart Tolle
This is one quote that really applies to me. I spent and often spend most of my life in my head with my thoughts that never seem to turn off. I read everything I can get my hands on and it wasn't until I started to read the work of Byron Katie, Eckhart Tolle, and others like them that I started to question the thoughts that I had and am having. Do these thoughts bring me any peace? Do they help my life in any way? If they are meant to protect, are they protecting me or causing me unhappiness? I still struggle with this but its getting better every day.
"We must be prepared to love all that we have feared." Debbie Ford
After a long weekend, I'm back to my quote of the day:)
"You can look at what emotionally affects you as a catalyst for growth, giving you the opportunity to reclaim a hidden aspect of yourself." Debbie Ford
"A recent study has found that women who carry a little extra weight live longer than the men who mention it." from Dr. Judith Orloff's Facebook.
